What is web.config?
Web.config is settings and configuration file for an ASP.NET web application. This is an XML document that specifies information regarding the web application. The Web.config files are used to Redirect the websites.
It is not mandatory that you should use the web.config file. In case you make any mistake in creation of the web.config file, then it would result in Error 500.
It is applicable only to the websites backed by Windows Hosting. In case of Linux Hosting the .htaccess file is used for redirecting sites.
